Here's how to safely get up to idyllwild on good, safe state routes.

On Valentine's Day, February 14, 2019, heavy rains poured down across the Inland Empire, causing closures to numerous roads.  The two biggest road closures were CA-74 coming out of Hemet and CA-243 coming up from Banning.  The news has really dramatized many into thinking that Idyllwild and Pine Cove were inaccessible and cut off, and that simply is not true.  

Two State Roads Are Open Up to Idyllwild

Since the flooding, there has always been roads that were open to Idyllwild.  While portions of 74 and 243 are still closed, these two major roads are open.

Directions from I-10 from Los Angelas Areas

Take I-10 East to Exit 113 (Monterey Ave) and head south toward Palm Desert.  Monterey Ave turns into CA-74.  Followed CA-74 up into the mountains and follow it past CA-371 up to CA-243 in Mountain Center.   In Mountain Center, bear right onto CA-243 heading toward Idyllwild.  Follow CA-243 directly into Idyllwild.  In Idyllwild, bear right in town onto N. Circle Drive.   Follow N. Circlefor a few blocks and Idyllwild Vacation Cabins will be on your left at the intersection of Cedar Street.  Our address is 54380 N. Directions from I-15 (Temecula) to Idyllwild

From  I-15 near Temecula, exit onto the Temecula Parkway (CA-79 S).  Follow CA-79 until you get to CA-371.  Turn left onto CA-371 heading toward Idyllwild.  When you reach CA-74, take a another left and follow it into Mountain Center.  In Mountain Center, bear right onto CA-243 heading toward Idyllwild.  Follow CA-243 directly into Idyllwild.  In Idyllwild, bear right in town onto N. Circle Drive.   Follow N. Circlefor a few blocks and Idyllwild Vacation Cabins will be on your left at the intersection of Cedar Street.  Our address is 54380 N.
