The Pacific Crest Trail covers over 2600 miles and runs from Mexico to Canada making its way into Idyllwild CA. The San Jacinto Mountdains contains 55 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail. Not a lot of hikers make the entire length in one trip, most hike the trail in sections. PCT begins a quarter mile east of the junction of state Highways 371 and 74 in Garner Valley then passes through the wilderness and exits north of Cabazon Peak near Interstate 10 in the desert near Palm Springs. A hiking permit is required for travel through the wilderness section. It is a beautiful hike and requires you bring the necessary gear in case you need it or happen to loose your way.
